Scandals surrounding the Assassination of Pakistani political leader Benazir Bhutto clouded by amazing claim by her made to Sir David Frost concerning Osama bin-Laden.

During an interview with Sir David Frost of the Al Jazeera-English media programme "Frost over the World" (02 Nov 07), former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto made the astounding claim that an assassination attempt on her would be carried out by a list of potential entities she delivered to U.S.-supported Pakistani dictator Pervez Musharraf upon her demise. In other words, she alerted the Pakistani government on who she had reasonable fears were willing and able to make a successful attempt on her life.

TEL AVIV Osama Bin Laden appears to be dead but his colleagues have
decided that Al Qaida and its insurgency campaign against the United
States will continue, Israeli intelligence sources said.

Al Qaida terrorists have launched a new campaign of economic warfare and
are targeting shipping in the Middle East, according to U.S. intelligence
officials.

The Israeli sources said Israel and the United States assess that Bin
Laden probably died in the U.S. military campaign in Afghanistan in
December. They said the emergence of new messages by Bin Laden are
probably fabrications, Middle East Newsline reported.

But Bin Laden's heir has been chosen and his colleagues have decided to
resume Al Qaida's offensive against the United States and Western allies,
the sources said.


Even the French demanded clarification of a “leaked” memorandum to this issue:

Mr Chirac told reporters he was surprised the memo had been leaked, and refused to comment on the claim itself. A French newspaper quoted a document as saying the Saudi secret services were convinced the al-Qaeda leader had died of typhoid in Pakistan in late August. Officials in Pakistan and the US said they could not confirm the account. Saudi-born Bin Laden was based in Afghanistan until the Taleban government there was overthrown by US-backed forces in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks.

A prominent official in the Afghan Taleban movement announced yesterday the death of Osama bin Laden, the chief of al-Qa'da organization, stating that binLaden suffered serious complications in the lungs and died a natural and quiet death. The official, who asked to remain anonymous, stated to The Observer of Pakistan that he had himself attended the funeral of bin Laden and saw his face prior to burial in Tora Bora 10 days ago. He mentioned that 30 of al-Qa'da fighters attended the burial as well as members of his family and some friends from the Taleban. In the farewell ceremony to his final rest guns were fired in the air. The official stated that it is difficult to pinpoint the burial location of bin Laden because according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave. He stressed that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden.

    The US still claims bin-Laden is still alive. That is when American president-unelect G. W. Bush takes the time to think about him. And in this piece, Pakistan agrees:

    General Michael Hayden, Director of the CIA, walked into the celebration of Saudi Arabia's national day in Washington D.C. and was immediately posed with the question of the day. "Is it true?" Hayden was asked by a Time reporter. "Nope," Hayden said, immediately adding to the accumulating statements on the paucity of evidence that Osama bin Laden was dead. About an hour before, the Saudi government itself declared that it "has no evidence to support recent media reports that Osama bin Laden is dead. Information that has been reported otherwise is purely speculative and cannot be independently verified." Pakistani intelligence sources, who monitor the mountainous regions where Bin Laden is believed to be hiding out, had also dismissed the reports of the terror leader's death.


    What’s the truth? What is the public, bleeding profusely in several nations over the supposed “War on Terror” to believe? More importantly, why after such an astonishing revelation by a major world political leader on a live, internationally respected newsmedia programme did Sir Frost allow that comment to “go” and never once during the interview elaborate on her startling statement?? Are we to believe that this icon of respectable news media could casually over-look the biggest media item in modern history?

    I don’t think so. In fact, had it not been for radio talk-show host Mike Malloy during his 12-27-2007 broadcast, I would have missed this item entirely. After reviewing the interview myself as well as the other facts surrounding this case, I can come to no other conclusion than Ms. Bhutto’s assassination, like John F. Kennedy’s fall in the wake of America’s first internal coup d’état, may be directly related to her ability to lead a nation in a responsible manner by calling out the elements surrounding her what they are.

    There’s even still more.

    The murder of Ms. Bhutto is currently raising questions on the details on how she actually died following this latest attempt on her life. According to the Pakistani authorities, Ms. Bhutto died from an injury caused by a collision within her vehicle...

    But, the Associate Press and other news items I have personally seen this morning are saying this:

    A doctor on the team that treated her said she had a bullet in the back of the neck that damaged her spinal cord before exiting from the side of her head. Another bullet pierced the back of her shoulder and came out through her chest.

    She was given open heart massage, but the main cause of death was damage to her spinal cord, he said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

    "At 6:16 p.m., she expired," said Wasif Ali Khan, a member of Bhutto's party who was at Rawalpindi General Hospital.


    To make matters even more confusing, investigative reporter Wanye Madsen reports that Ms. Bhutto had direct relations with Aboriginal movements that stand strongly opposed to Pakistani dictator Musharraf:

    WMR has learned that the CIA is also working with pro-Al Qaeda and Taliban insurgents in Pakistan. Currently, Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Richard Boucher is visiting Pakistan to repair frayed relations with Pakistani dictator Pervez Musharraf, however, U.S. intelligence is also working with tribal opponents of Musharraf to help destabilize his regime.


    So, who are we to believe? Ms. Bhutto’s diligence to wage democracy in Pakistan and potentially across the Muslim world speaks to us from beyond the grave. We at least owe her the respect of looking into these issues responsibly as citizens of a real democracy would, and should, feel an innate obligation to do.
